And the fur will fly! Hopefully...

Took Loke into two instances last night: AN and UK. Tanked both. They went well, but the UK run was much much smoother.

Now, Loke is a feral bear that wants to get out there and prove that he can tank, even as a bear. My personal tanking experience has always been a paladin. So... some mental adjustments have to be made.

Thankfully the runs went smoothly. But the group conpositions were radically different for each instance. Not so much the classes, but the players attitudes. A lot of what Kaly said in her blog yesterday were evident last night.

First run was normal AN. I felt rushed, was told to Go Go Go, aoe dps as soon as I charged, etc. All in all a stressful experience. But hey, that's pugs right? We cleared the content with no deaths, I held aggro once I had the chance. I herded mobs around grouped them up and the resto druid kept me up. Didn't have to use any potions or pop many cooldowns.

Second run was normal UK. Granted it's easier than AN, the mobs hit for less. But this group was amazing. They waited for me, they attacked the marked mobs in order. I was allowed my few seconds to build aggro. Pure joy. Again, I didn't have to use any potions or pop many cooldowns.

Only cooldown that I did pop was barkskin, which is macroed into Swipe. Pretty sure I need barkskin when I'm getting threat on groups of mobs. Helps make me less squishy.

Still need to figure out when I can use Enrage, etc. Occasionally I become rage starved, which has me worried. I'm either not hitting enough, not dodging enough, or not being hit for enough dmg. But I was semi-rage starved on the Anub'arak fight. Too many adds that were dying too quickly that I was wasting rage on for snap aggro. Now, I suspect that's just the fight, and that I should have used a carefully timed enrage.

When do other people pop their cooldowns? When do you engrage? Just before a pull? Ever try popping it with barkskin to try and negate the armor loss some?

These are questions that hopefully I'll develop a feel for. I need to get my fuzzy butt into more instances. And I might have a pocket healer of my own, once Kaly figures out that resto shaman is the way to go for off-spec. :D

The little priest who tries too hard

So yesterday, Kaly and I decided to do the RaF program so she could powerlevel a paladin. I created a priest. And it's been interesting since.

Poor little girl is level 16 now, with her trusty backpack full of quest items and about 46 copper to her name. She's missing skills, can't talk to anyone in the world, can't trade with people. She's a ghost of her future self. Though she does have a bank she can use... o.O

Kinda frustrating. But we've already done the account upgrade and scheduled a monthly payment for that account. Just waiting on the Blizzard Billing Department to decide that the account shouldn't be a trial one anymore. Hopefully before that happens, read: 48-72 hours, I'll have gotten a freaking bag to drop so I have more than 16 slots of space. Grrr!

But the priest herself, is a lot of fun, though not very mana efficient. She usually resorts to braining people with her trusty mace. Paladin's require so much healing. :p Add to the fact that I'm trying to do her as shadow, isn't helping things.

At least the grind to Shadowform will go quickly. Like I said, Kaly and I started them last night. And with all of the logging in and out to see if Blizz had updated my account, we didn't really put in much time on them.

Hopefully we'll do more questing tonight. I have some instance quests already that should be fun. Lots of XP to boot if we survive. :p

I'm still confused about the RaF bit though. Not sure if I have to keep this account for 2 months for Kaly to get the mount or what. So there's a chance she'll be stuck at 60 for a while, before I can account transfer my spriest from the "trial" account to my "main" Wrath account.

Ughs... need to get money for more mounts and riding skills. *sighs*

The T9 spriest gear looks awesome though. :D She gets to wear robes and not some crappy tunic like my poor mage. :(

?

Kaly covered a lot of what happened last night in her blog. These are just some of my own thoughts about the state of things.

1) I feel that I need to speak with Garris about Oingaboinga. Kaly and I both were uncomfortable around him, and I for one don't want to do any raids with him. I suspect Kaly feels the same way. However that puts us into a delima.

2) Without the "alliance" that we've formed with Garris, we don't really know enough people to try and throw together any pug raids of our own.

3) We really don't want to leave our guild, Faded Delusions, to join any of the other raiding guilds.

4) Eto is stuck-ish gear wise currently. If he could raid, he'd have the opportunity to get better gear. But really, I'm just holding out until the next patch hits so I can go full t9 with some t10. Just not excited about the gear. Pretty comfortable with where he is with the content. Nothing is beyond his healing. Hell, I've kept Kaly up for a lot longer than we should have while we were learning the first ToC10 fight. And I was eventually told to wipe the raid because we were the only ones left alive. :p

5) Back to the alts, or so it seems. Tried the druids the other night, we became bored. Tried my warrior today, but warriors are so darn squishy. Need to give him another go, because I really want an 80 warrior. And an 80 druid, 80 lock, etc. :p

Why do I always write lists? Sheesh, I get bored reading them, let alone writing them. No wonder I don't have any readers. But since I use this mostly as a repository for my own jumbled thoughts, it still serves it's purpose.

Shaman Healing Equivalency Points (Shaman_hep)

So... I downloaded two mods: LoggerHead and shaman_hep to help point me in the right direction for my haste vs. crit issue.

After installing ActivePerl and letting LoggerHead record a couple of 10/25 man raids and a few heroics, I get this as a result.

For healing output:
1 SP = 1 SP (0.2946 hps)
1 Crit rating = 0.7013 SP (0.2066 hps)
1 Haste rating = 1.6260 SP (0.4790 hps)
1 INT = 0.3625 SP (0.1068 hps)

For mana regen:
1 MP5 = 1 mp5
1 Crit rating = 0.0683 mp5
1 Haste rating = -0.1911 mp5
1 INT = 0.2219 mp5
1 Mana = 0.0070 mp5
Total mana regen points needed from gear: 821.44

Shaman Healing Equivalency Points:
1 SP = 1
1 mp5 = 1.1268 (calculated)
1 mana = 0.0079
1 Haste rating = 1.4107
1 Crit rating = 0.7783
1 INT = 0.6126 (actual)
1 INT = 0.8816 (max theoretical)

Which tells me that I still need to value haste more than crit. Ok, that's cool and all. But what really blew my mind was the helpful Pawn values (though I don't use it) and Wowhead links (1 and 2).

Course all of the gear that's listed is out of my content range, but I was really surprised how much of the +20 haste epic gems Wowhead showed on the items. I still prefer gemming as much for sp as possible.

Am I wrong in this? Wouldn't it make more sense to do the 12 spellpower/10 haste gem over straight 20 haste even for a yellow slot?

Granted, I might have to fiddle more with the config settings for the shaman_hep script, since you do have to hard code a couple items. But I found it interesting reading. :D

Still wishing I had 3 talent builds and glyph selections though. Do MT resto, raid resto, and enhancement (freaking dailies). But that, if ever (yeah right!) will be way down the line.

Haste vs Crit balance issues

So I've definitely noticed a difference in how I heal heroics versus raids.

Heroics, I need tons of haste for that slow slow Chain Heal. Raids, I need crit for huge Lesser Healing Waves.

Unfortunately, I'm not at a gear level to be able to swap pieces out for haste/crit depending on what I'm healing.

Maybe if I just insist on tossing Lesser Healing Waves around during heroics, see how that goes, instead of using Chain Heal so much.

All I know is that when I need a heal RIGHT NOW!! it's too late. I can make one big heal every 3 mins thanks to Nature's Swiftness. I had a macro that would pop that, my trinkets, Tidal Focus, and then cast Healing Wave. But I now use it with my Jesus beam. Because if things get that bad, it's nice to have healed more than one person.

I really need the two piece T8 bonus for that reduced cooldown on Riptide. I use that spell whenever I can, but it always seems to be on cooldown. *sighs*

WTB more gear options. :p

Kaly and Eto's new guild

Faded Delusions, a horde family leveling/casual raiding guild on Shadow Council is up and running. Current roster is small, but we're recruiting active members. Doesn't matter what level or spec, we're taking friendly people.

Looking to build a core 10 man group for casual raiding.

Tired of silent guild chat, bored of not running instances, tired of being told you need gear? We'll welcome you with open arms. Just looking to have a good time with friends and collect loot along the way.

If this sounds like anything you'd be interested in, please contact Kalyara or Etolani in game.

Happy hunting!

Server transfers

So Kaly and I have been moaning and complaining about Bronzebeard for a while now. The list goes something like: bad lfg, can't find pugs, insane guildies, we miss our Shadow Council friends, etc.

Well certain actions from said guildies have pushed us over the edge. Kaly at one time threatened to move her lock to Bronzebeard to show people what dps meant. Now we're swinging the opposite way. We want to move our Bronzebeard toons over to Shadow Council.

So then all of our playable toons (and bank toons) would be on the same server just with different factions. Hello neutral auction house abuse. :D

Now we just need to decide when the switches will occur and in what order. Kaly lucks out, she only has her Dk and her cute tauren bank toon. Whereas I have: Eto, Kuta, Loke, and Eyeburner that I want to bring over. o.O That's $100 just for my toons. Crazy.

So an order must occur. Her DK and my shaman should be first. I can still work on Loke's inscription (with the help of Kuta farming). But once Eto is moved, I no longer have access to herbs, other than doing the neutral AH from Kaly's herbalist warlock. :D

And when Kuta is moved, poor Loke is left in Dal with no leather or weeds.

We need to pick a date for the first two, then I need to focus on maxing everyone's professions asap. Kalyara's JC and Enchanting, Eto's alchemy, Loke's inscription.

In the process Kuta will get a name change, and Eyeburner will eventually get a faction/gender change. I need to reserve the new toon name asap. That's right, my ugly ass male troll fury warrior will become a cute blue haired death dealing female gnome fury warrior. :P

And then we need to find a guild, or start a horde guild. *shrugs* Probably start a horde guild. We like doing that. :p

Choose your butt - NPC Comic

Too funny and very appropriate. Though I tend to play alliance females (go gnomes) and horde males, I know the majority of my friends play the hot female belfs just to look at pixelated ass. Which, you can't really fault them, since the majority of the time you are looking at your toons backside, why not enjoy the view...

Anyway, here's the comic.

Loots!

Haven't really had time to play much WoW lately, an odd couple of hours every day or so.

Grats to Kalyara for getting her epic flying and epic flying mount. I'm a little jealous of her. :D Since I still don't have mine and I still need to pay for dual spec. Bleargh. Poor poor money bags.

Did have the chance to run normal ToC a few times, attended a two-shot guild Ony10 raid, a three-shot guild Uld10 Flame Leviathan run last night, and a few heroics throughout the week. There's talk of us finally starting to do Naxx10 for emblems and some odd loot drops here and there. That got me excited. Kalyara and I need emblems and any drops would be awesome.

Did manage to pick up some nifty items from those instances/raids. So Eto is getting some better gear. He's not where I want him to be yet, though he probably never will be that well geared. :p But progress is progress.

Recent Upgrades:
Deadly Gladiator's Totem of the Third Wind which I did a couple AVs and one WG for. Think I need to buy the emblem chain healing totem as well, and swap them out for raiding/heroics. Since I'm specced and gearing towards MT heals, heroic healing is more challenging from all of the party dmg that I actually have to care about. :p

Tears if the Vanquished from normal ToC. Int!! I love me some int, well, lots of int. The bigger my mana pool the happier I am.

Leggings of the Bloodless Knight
from normal ToC. Finally got the sapphire spellthread made and attached last night. Just need to get them gemmed now. Crit, haste, and a bunch of spellpower. Nice.

Sash of Blood Removal from H-Gundrak last night. Yeah, I know it's leather, but it's a nice little belt that replaced the blue mail belt from said instance that I won a night or two prior. :D Need to get a belt buckle made and a gem cut for it though. I need gems!! :p

Overlook Handguards ...H-Drak'Tharon Keep drop. Really don't like them because of the spirit, but the other stats were far superior to my old gloves that I'm using them anyway. I bet I get a few looks from people, since spirit is useless for a resto shaman. Just need something like 23 more Emblems of Triumph to be able to pick up my T9 gloves, which I intend to do as quickly as possible.

Frozen Tear of Elune was an emblem purchase from last night. Nice upgrade over my blue zul'drak quest neck. :D I'll be using it for a while. Unless I somehow luck out and manage to get into a pug Naxx25, win the key for EoE25 and beat that too... yeah... :p Nice neck. :D

Energy Siphon from last night's Flame Leviathan run. Which is really really nice. Macro that to pop for just before I cast Earth Shield. Nice. Just really don't want to give up either of my current trinkets for it. I'm not really running out of mana that often. I don't have a stockpile of gear to swap mp5 for crit + sp gear to make my overall stats consistent. So I think it'll have to stay in the bank for a bit. Which really makes me sad. I just can't afford to give up the SP, Haste, or potion boost on my Mecurial Alchemist Stone quite yet. But I'm willing to try. :D

and finally...

Gaze of Ten Storms which I scored from Ony10. Also picked up Coif of Ten Storms, since I was the only shaman in the raid. :D Shame I had already dropped a bunch of gold and lucky drops for my enhancement set. :( So the 2nd helm will sit in the bank gathering dust for a while.

My current ideal set is built around the two piece set bonus of both T8 and T9. I can use emblems of conquest for the T8 bonus (though I'd lose my Ony helm) and emblems of triumph for my T9 bonus.

I just think those two stacked together would improve one of my 3 main healing spells: Riptide.

T8(2) bonus reduces the cooldown on Riptide by 1 second. So tossing that around every five seconds would help my heroic healing or spot raid healing, etc. I try to keep it up on as many people as possible since I love the stacked boost with Chain Heal.

T8(2) bonus increases the healing done by my Riptide by 20%. I could be all geeky and show you exactly what that would do for my healing, but I don't know the math and I'm too lazy to look the numbers up. Suffice to say, I believe it would tie in nicely to my preferred healing style.

>.> I also want to get the 2 piece healing/dps trinket set from Ony10: Purified Shard of the Flame and Purified Shard of the Scale. But I'm not trying to be greedy here. :D

Projects Update

Project One:
Level the shaman to 80 and get gear.

Partly done. He's 80 now and has a few lowbie 80 epics.

Project Two:
Level professions across multiple toons.

Eto - 450 Mining /435 Alchemy
Kuta - 450 Herbalism / 450 Skinning
Loke - 443 Leatherworking / 397 Herbalism; Still thinking of dropping Herbalism for Inscription.

Project Three:
Earn/make gold, lots of gold.

...did I already complain about dropping 400g for Eto's 80 skills? Or dropping 1000g for Kuta's cold-weather flying?

Project Four:
Spend said gold on epic flying and cold-weather flying for multiple toons.

Eto - epic flying
Kuta - epic flying
Loke - cold-weather flying, epic flying
Eye - flying, cold-weather flying, epic flying

This is just a depressing list. I really should just lock it up and burn the chest or something. *sighs*

Project Five:
Figure out what rep grinds the toons need, focusing on Eto first.

Ummm..... I've been busy leveling. Though I think I'm going to hit revered with Kirin Tor first, mp5 head glyph is tasty. Then, do revered with Wyrmrest for the crit head glyph. Finally, exalted with Argent Crusade. Really not worried much about the gear that I can get at exalted with people since the new emblem stuff is a lot better. Just trying to get the glyphs or shoulder enchants, etc.

80 Resto Shaman

Well... Eto is 80 now. Time to begin a different kind of grind.

Gold, rep, instances, heroics, emblems, yada yada. Everyone knows the drill.

I am looking forward to seeing all of the heroics from the perspective of a healer. Raiding will happen in time, though I'm betting a certain GM and other guildies will want it to happen sooner. :p

Just want to feel comfortable with my ability to MT heal before I get dropped into that.

Do have one other comment though.... 400g for level 80 skills?!?! Ouchies, my limited gold supply cried when I saw that.

79 already?!?

Holy crap, Eto is 79 and I'm no where near ready for 80.

I don't have my bags full of boe epics, I have two. Earned my healing trinket from a brewfest run, and was given the titansteel healing mace from a guildie.

Where's the horded gold, mats, rep, any of that. All on the wayside, just like a fresh new 80 would be. That's a scary thought. I've been playing for so long on a server where I'm established, have all of the professions with plenty of farming toons. My farming toon on Bronzebeard is my 74 hunter...

No epic flying for Eto, Kuta still doesn't have flying. And when I buy the book for him on Eto, that'll wipe out my savings.

Scary future.

Ran normal HoL and UP last night. Kaly did an awesome job tanking. I didn't do so well healing UP though. First time I've had a wipe since I started healing with Eto again. That shook me up a lot. Granted it was against Ymiron and we totally forgot about Bane. Hate hate hate bane with 3 melee toons.

Did hit 440 LW with Loke yesterday, after dropping ~700g on the last 30 skill points or so. Hate this server. Course, once I farm/buy the mats for the epic crafted chest and boots for Eto, I can turn around and sell my leather to start making some gold back.

Still really interested in doing Insription on Loke as well. Just need to stop farming leather on Kuta first.

Professions... ugh

That really should say it all. I love max professions, I just hate leveling them.

Working on Cooking (Eto), Alchemy (Eto), and Leatherworking (Loke). Not to mention trying to funnel as much ore and greens for Jewelcrafting and Enchanting for Kalyara.

So I'm scrambling around, having my 73 hunter kill and skin as many things as possible in Sholazar Basin, xp ftw! Eto and Kaly made it over to the basin last night as well. Which lead me to calling out "Ore!" then agroing everything as I beeline to the saronite. Damn other farmers with their flying mounts.

Everyone says this, but Blizzard really needs to make big cooking bags. Tired of forfitting bag space to chilled meat.

Actually bag space in general is just bad. Having to store meat/fish, herbs, ore, leather. All of that takes up lots of space spread across three-ish toons. Did I mention that we're "broke" too? Stupid bag costs.

Still debating dropping herbalism on Loke to pick up Inscription. Still think that'll be a decent source of gold. Plus I really don't want to buy all of the cards for either the greatness deck or the prisims deck for Eto. Haven't decided what would be a good extra trinket. Or should I just run normal ToC over and over again for Tears of the Vanquished.

Oh well, plenty of things to do. Remember the projects post? Yeah... I best get on that.

Projects

Project One:
Level the shaman to 80 and get gear.

Eto is 76 currently, that's not many levels to go. Once he hits 77, with the purchase of cold-weather flying, and access to the Argent Tournament and Sons of Hodir rep grinds, getting the levels should go faster. Not to mention how quickly we've leveled in Storm Peaks before. So it's just a matter of hitting 77, then onto the home stretch.

Project Two:
Level professions across multiple toons.

The grind, my poor poor bleading eyes. I need to level: alchemy, leatherworking, herbalism, skinning, and I'm thinking about picking up inscription on my druid.

Etolani - Miner/Alchemist
Kuta - Skinner/Herbalist
Lokeire - Herbalist/Leatherworker
Eyeburner - Miner/Enchanter

So with some fiddling around, I think I can power level a scribe. Just more farming. *sighs* But hopefully that'll lead to an additional source of income.

Project Three:
Earn/Make gold, lots of gold.

Argent Tournament and Sons of Hodir rep grind dailies for gold should help a lot toward earning gold. Once the professions are leveled more, I should be able to sell leather, ore, etc. Need to check the ah's price for various inscription items.

If/when Kuta gets flying and hits 77, that's another source of dailies for added gold. Repeat for the other toons.

Mmmm gold, the facilitator of shineys and toon leveling.

Project Four:
Spend said gold on epic flying and cold-weather flying for multiple toons.

Did you see the toon list? Yeah, they all need flying, epic flying, and cold-weather flying to some degree or another.

Eto - cold-weather flying, epic flying
Kuta - cold-weather flying, epic flying
Loke - cold-weather flying, epic flying
Eye - flying, cold-weather flying, epic flying

That is a LOT of gold. *sighs* Why didn't I do my 70 dailies on any of these toons before Wrath came out?

Project Five:
Figure out what rep grinds the toons need, focusing on Eto first.

I've been slacking, haven't been paying attention to what faction rep I should be grinding versus the easily obtained superior emblem gear. Give me an hour or so, and I'll have the list down, with the order that I'll snag the shinies so I can start healing in raids on Eto. :p

I geek I will aways be.

76 Shaman Blues

Etolani, protector of tanky Dks, collector of the ore, mixer of strange chemicals scored his first 80 epic last night.

Actually he helped "earn" his Ancient Pickled Egg with an odd guild group: 80 prot warrior, 80 ret paladin, 80 holy priest, 75 frost dk, and himself (75 resto shaman). But he downed ole' Coren Direbrew four times last night, and the word is he's going back again tonight. People want their kodos. Eto just wants the AP trinket for his eventual off-spec.

Traveling around the various flight paths, seeking out the elusive Kalu'ak quartermaster. Hoping to upgrade the cruddy green quest chest for a spiffy blue with more stam, int and spellpower.

Still trying to get a feel for what stats he needs as a resto shaman. Not really sure how much haste is needed, if it's even neccessary while leveling. He's stacking int and spellpower with a smattering of MP5 currently. So long as he doesn't run out of mana, most fights are easy enough. Though that'll probably change once he hits 80 and has access to more gear choices.

All in all, playing a resto shaman is a very nice break from constant dps, which was used as a break from constant tanking. Just wish all of my toons were on the same server and same faction. Then Eto wouldn't be so broke. Somehow he needs to collect 4000+ gold in the span of a level to pick up both cold weather flying and epic flying. Will probably have to do just the cold weather flying, then grind out gold with dailies and what not before his get my epic flying.

Anyway, off to find that vendor, then to switch over to my hunter, Kuta, to farm more leather and herbs.
